"The painting that inspired this print took me almost 3 years to complete. Not because it was massive, or the most technical but just cause I kept endlessly layering and layering paint and textures over one another until it felt complete. I wanted to approach this print with the same obnoxious ambition to create textures and layers far beyond what I have printed in the past. Although it took FOREVER to complete, I'm really happy with the end result." Some advancements include: An increased number of printed colors (24 plus an additional 25th layer split-fountain). Hand Painted Half toned elements referenced in his newer bodies of work. Hand made textured layers for print. An increase in the number of semi-transparent shadows and highlights. An increase in the number of semi-transparent overlay layers creating new optical colors."

ARTIST BIO

Pose (Jordan Nickel) was born in 1980 in Evanston, Illinois, and is currently based in Chicago. He began practicing graffiti in 1992 and received a painting degree from Kansas City Art Institute in 2004. His studio work is strongly informed by his graffiti experience and his immersion in traditional sign painting.

Pose is a member of The Seventh Letter, an acclaimed West Coast artist collective and Mad Society Kings (MSK), a world-renowned graffiti crew. Pose has painted murals all over the world. In 2013, he and fellow MSK artist REVOK were invited to collaborate on a mural for the illustrious Houston/Bowery wall.
